who we are

Steam on is a student-run nonprofit working to level the playing field in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. We at steam on recognize that many young people do not have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in these areas. We at steam on are uniquely positioned to tackle this inequity because our team is comprised of mainly low-income, first generation, female, and LGBTQ+ students. Coming from these disadvantaged backgrounds, we can more effectively connect with the communities we are addressing and make an impact.

what we do

We belive in thinking globally and acting globally and our programming model mirrors this belief. We have a team of volunteers who tutor students in their communities coming from disadvantaged backgrounds and help them realize that they can access and achieve in STEAM. By providing mentors for these young people and connecting them with the resources they need, we make a difference locally. Globally, we work with a network of students helping to empower and encourage their peers to explore their passions. Through political activism, local engagement, and peer-to-peer education, we make a far-reaching impact.
